89th birth anniversary of litterateur Tarapati Upadhyaya celebrated in Udalguri

UDALGURI: The 89th birth anniversary of renowned litterateur Tarapati Upadhyaya was held in Udalguri. Gayatri Bhattarai, the president, and Ram Upadhyaya, the secretary of Udalguri district Nepali Sahitya Sabha, felicitated Tarapati Upadhyaya and wished him good health and a long life. Tarapati Upadhyaya has published more than 17 books in Assamese and Nepali. He is also a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Translation Award for his translated novel Ananda Math. The Government of Assam recognized his contribution to literature by granting him literary pension.

Litterateur Vidyapati Dahal, Laxmi Sendai, the Vice-Principal of Danda Saharia Higher Secondary School, and Dilu Sarma, the president of BTC regional committee of Assam Gorkha Sanmelan, were also present to wish him a long life.
