Numaligarh: The 8th addition to Kaziranga National Park, Bokakhat Forest Range was officially inaugurated on Tuesday. In this regard, a special official inauguration programme was held in the office premises of the Director, KNP (Kaziranga National Park). In the programme, Director of KNP, P. Shivakumar and DFO, East-Assam Wildlife Division, Rohini Ballav Saikia inaugurated the office of the newly-added Bokakhat Forest Range Office.

Assam State Journalist Association president Jitu Sharma Rajkhowa, Bokakhat Press Club president Bhobananda Kalita, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Golaghat, Uttam Saikia, and other forest officials were present in the inauguration ceremony. This 8th addition of KNP is comprised of an area of 190 square kilometres and Dipankar Deb has been appointed as the Forest Range Officer of this range. The Bokakhat Forest Range will include some areas of the Bokakhat forest beat under East-Assam wildlife division and also some areas of the 6th addition of KNP. It will cover the forest camps like Bhakte Chapori, Gabhoru Chapori, Moriahula, Modarjuri, Panbari, Sishubari and also a mobile camp named ‘Gonga Siloni’.
