TEZPUR: The 8th Foundation Day of Tezpur Medical College &
Hospital (TMCH) was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm on January 30. The
TMCH has completed seven years of its pride existence on this day. The occasion
was started with college flag hoisting by the Principal cum Chief
Superintendent of the college Professor (Dr) Karuna Hazarika.
The flag hoisting programme was followed by an oath taking ceremony (which is being newly incorporated from this year) for the students, faculties and employees of TMCH such that an- atmosphere of dedication, discipline, harmony and ethics is created in the institute amongst all which is essential for the all-round development of the college and society at large. The oath taking for faculties was conducted by Principal cum Chief Superintendent of the college Professor (Dr) Karuna Hazarika, for employees was conducted by Medical Superintendent Dr Madhab Chandra Rajbangshi and students was conducted by General Secretary of Tezpur Medical College Teachers' Association Dr Dharmakanta Kumbhakar.
Certificate of appreciation was distributed amongst the faculties, junior doctors, interns and staff of TMCH for their dedicated and selfless service towards the society as a COVID-19 Warrior in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the occasion. An open meeting was held in the college auditorium on the occasion. Professor Karuna Hazarika, Medical Superintendent Dr Madhab Chandra Rajbangshi, Staff President Professor (Dr) Ashutosh Suklabaidya, Dr Dharmakanta Kumbhakar, few faculties, representatives from junior doctors, TMCSU, TMCEA and nursing superintendent delivered speech in the meeting. Academic prizes were also distributed amongst the rank holder students of the college in different university examinations in the meeting.
The Tezpur Medical College Teachers' Association first time conferred the Late (Dr) Anita Rajowar Memorial award to Sidhartha Sankar Sharma for securing highest mark in the subject Pharmacology in TMC and Late Lianjapao Kuki Memorial award to Anindita Sarma for securing highest mark in the subject Physiology in TMC in the meeting. The meeting was preceded by a plantation drive by the faculties, junior doctors, staff and students of the college with an attempt to promote an eco-friendly environment in and around the TMCH campus. The plantation drive was followed by a voluntary blood donation camp where faculties, junior doctors, staff and students of the college donated blood. The meeting was followed by a colourful cultural programme organized by the students of the college, stated a release.
