BAKSA: Around 9.5 kg ganja smuggled into Guwabari under Nagrijuli Police Outpost in Baksa district was seized on Wedneday evening and one peddler was arrested by Nagrijuli Police and Guwabari SSB.
Kailash Malakar, in-charge of Nagrijuli Police Outpost said, "We received a tip that the ganja was being sold in the Guwabari area. On receving the information, Nagrijuli Police and Guwabari SSB rushed to the spot and found a man who was identfied as Krishna Basumatary from Kuruwabahi village in Udalguri district. He was carrying the ganja and was using a vehicle with registration number AS-12-K-2878."
The team of police and SSB seized the 9.5 kg ganja from the vehicle which was found in the premises of Gobinda Basnet's house of Uttar Guwabari along the Indo-Bhutan border under Nagrijuli Police Outpost in the district of Baksa. The drug peddler was interrogated and further arrest is likely to be made on the basis of his confession. A case has been registered against Krishna Basumatary at Tamulpur Police Station. Krishna was produced in front of the district magistrate and sent to jail.
