BOKO: A social, cultural and sports organisation ‘Bogai’ celebrated the silver jubilee year at Boko field on the occasion of a two-day long programme, organised by the Bogai committee. On Sunday, starting the events with cultural rally, thousands of people from different ethnic groups participated in this cultural programme wearing their traditional attires. After the cultural rally, state-level arm wrestling for men and women were organized. The cultural evening stage was opened by Tankeswar Rabha, chief executive member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council. Unveiling the souvenir ‘Bogai’ by the renowned journalist Manoj Kumar Goswami, he said in his speech that an event like ‘Bogai’ is very necessary. “As these small festivals serve as the flesh and blood of a caste, such festivals are needed to keep the blood flowing in the arteries of the nation,” added Goswami.

Special awards in various sectors were also given on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee year. ‘Bogai Pabitra Patowary State Agriculture Award 2023’ was given to the Sarat Baruah from Samdhora Panigaon from Sonitpur district by Sushil Patowary, Senior Journalist from Assam. ‘Bogai Social Award 2023’ was given to the Durgaprasad Sharma from Boko. ‘Bogai Cultural Award 2023’ was given to the Internationally renowned filmmaker Rima Das and ‘Bogai Sports Award 2023’ was given to Gilberson Sangma, former footballer from Guwahati. During the cultural evening, many artistes performed including singer Sankhuraj Knowar.

On Monday, art competition, costume competition were also organized among the children, boys and girls who came from various places of Assam. In the evening, many traditional dances including Bodo, Rabha, Bihu and many other dances were performed. Later, many local singers performed. Famous singer Rito Riba from Arunachal Pradesh performed in the closing of ‘Bogai’ cultural evening. Thousands of spectators from Assam and Meghalaya were captivated by the singer Rito Riba’s concert.
