PATHSALA: The All Assam Kalita Janagosthi Students' Union (AAKJSU) will field 35 candidates in different constituencies of Assam where majority of the voters belong to the Kalita community in the forthcoming Assembly election.
President Anupal Dutta Pathak and general secretary Devajit Hazarika said that they had formed an election core committee under the chairmanship of advisor Biswajit Deka, Brajen Medhi, Dharmendra Kalita, Samarjyoti Deka, Kamal Barman, Abhishek Raj Kalita and Diganta Bharali.
Anupal Dutta Pathak said, "We give the last deadline to the government till August 15. If the demand of Pragjyotish Development Council and other demands like statue of King Bhagadatta and reservation in government sector are not fulfilled by August 15, then we will talk with different party leaders and project candidates from the Kalita community in constituencies like Dharmapur, Nalbari, Barkhetri, Patacharkuchi, Bhawanipur, Sarukhetri, Dispur, Barpeta, Guwahati East, Guwahati West, Hajo, Rangia, Kamalpur, Bihupuria, Amguri, Naharkatia and Tamulpur."
He added, "We will talk with every political party and the political parties must include the demand for ST status and development council to the Kalita community in their election manifesto."
