AASU activists of North Lakhimpur show black flag to BJP State president Ranjeet Dass

LAKHIMPUR: Continuing its vehement opposition to the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), 2019, the Lakhimpur unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and its regional units have been staging protest programmes against the Act in the district.

On Friday, the activists of North Lakhimpur regional AASU unit, led by president Pranjit Gogoi and Punamjyoi Buragohain showed black flag to BJP State president Ranjeet Dass as a mark of opposition to CAA. The activists of the organization initiated the stir at Maidamia of North Lakhimpur town shouting various slogans against the BJP State president and the controversial Act. Lakhimpur police obstructed the AASU activists while they were staging the protest.

Lakhimpur district unit AASU general secretary Dhanmoni Dutta vehemently condemned the attempt on the part of Lakhimpur police taken for obstructing the democratic protest programme initiated by the activists of the organization. He declared that such agitation programme against the CAA will continue unless the Act was withdrawn.
