TANGLA: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) staged a human chain protest over the rising prices of essential commodities at Tangla town in Udalguri district on Tuesday. The protesters forming human chain along the Mangaldoi-Bhutiachang road in Tangla town raised slogans against the Food and Civil Supply minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass for taking no steps in controlling the rising prices of LPG cylinder, mustard oil.
"The political leaders only come during elections to sell their promises never to be fulfilled, " said Tangla Anchalik AASU President, Pranjal Deka. The Food and Civil Supply Department is in deep slumber, it is high time the government must act to takes effective steps to control rising prices of essential commodities.
The students' body also raised its voice on the issue of bifurcation of Tangla Irrigation Division Office in the wake of restructuration of Irrigation Divisions of State. "The bifurcation of the Tangla Irrigation Division Office will not be accepted at any cost as it is one of the oldest office of Tangla town and the Assam government and Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) authorities must roll back its decision and restore the Tangla Irrigation Division Office to its original form," Deka added. He further reiterated to continue democratic protest untill and unless the demand is paid heed to.
