AASU stages protest against price hike of essential commodities at Biswanath Chariali

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Biswanath District All Assam Students' Union (AASU) carried out a protest rally at Biswanath Chariali town on Friday against price hike in essential commodities on the directions of the central committee of AASU.

Hundreds of AASU workers marched from Swahid Bhavan to the Deputy Commissioner's office along the NH-15 and raised slogans against the BJP government. The protesters alleged that the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the State had failed to put a curb on the soaring prices of essential commodities, including petrol and diesel in the country. They also alleged that the hike in petrol-diesel prices had led to a major increase in the prices of food items. Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) also participated in the agitation.
