DIBRUGARH: The 17th general convention of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU), as per decision of the State executive committee, will be held at Duliajan in Dibrugarh district in the last week of October this year.
In a statement issued to the press, All Dibrugarh District Students' Union (ADDSU) president Bulbul Dutta and general secretary Shankar Jyoti Baruah said that the proposed convention would be held in the district after a gap of 28 years under the aegis of ADDSU with active support and cooperation from Duliajan Regional Students' Union (DRSU) and citizens of Duliajan. Both ADDSU leaders called upon people of the district to help and extend their full cooperation in order to make the convention a great success.
A public meeting has been convened on September 5 in the playground of Solakotoki Yubak Sangha to discuss various issues related to the proposed AASU convention and to constitute a strong reception committee. AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath and general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi are likely to attend the scheduled public meeting.
