JORHAT: The 30th Krishak Divas was organized by Regional Agricultural Research Station, Titabor through interactions with farmers, field demonstration of various paddy breeds, field visit and drone demonstration etc.
The 30th Krishak Divas or Farmers’ Day was inaugurated by Dr. Ashik Bhattacharyya, the Vice-Chancellor in-charge of AAU. Hemanta Das, a progressive farmer from Merapani, was felicitated in the presence of farmers from Sivasagar, Majuli, Charaideo, Golaghat and Jorhat, agricultural experts, faculty members from four colleges of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture and Community Science and students.
Dr. Ashik Bhattacharyya, the Vice-Chancellor in-charge of AAU, called upon the farmers to come forward to take the latest technical tips from AAU scientists. He said that because of the 45 new varieties of paddy findings at RARS, Titabor, the station would soon get national-level status from the Government of India.
“We celebrate this day like a farmers’ festival as Titabor is well known for bumper paddy cultivation and just adjacent to our experimental paddy field there lies the historic Bosapathar,” said Dr. Ranjit Kumar Choudhury, former scientist from the station, during the day-long farmers’ festival.
