DIBRUGARH: A group of 35 students of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat under the direct guidance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dibrugarh began their field works at various crop fields of farmers of the district.
Disclosing the programme activities, the programme supervisor of this Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme (RAWEP) assigned by the Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Hemchandra Saikia informed that the multiple objectives of the programme are to equip the final year B.Sc (Agriculture) students with a fruitful practical experience of farm activities, to know the farming situation of the farmers, their problems, opportunities, weakness and threats, their socio-economic situation, level of technology adoption in farm production, to know the indigenous technology knowledge level of farmers, and also to make the farming community aware about various suitable improved agricultural technologies developed by the university for their sustainable betterment.
All the 35 students have been allotted their villages of work and host farmers are being allotted at the spot of their cultivated land individually. The villages selected for the RAWEP programme are Dangor pothar, Photahola, Nagaon, Bantona and Kapahuwa of Dibrugarh district.
