LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Unemployed Association (AAUA) has alleged massive corruption while implementing various schemes under Lakhimpur Soil Conservation Division.

In this connection, the organization has pointed out two major schemes implemented by the Division, named Amtala Riverine Land Protection and Development Project with an estimated amount of Rs 40 lakh and tender value of Rs. 39.20 lakh, year 2020-21 and Amtala Riverine Land Protection Project with estimated cost of Rs. 34,64,376.00, tender value of Rs. 33,95,098.00 year 2020-21.

Demanding a probe into the alleged corruption in the implementation of these two projects, Lakhimpur district unit of AAUA submitted separate memoranda to the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary of the Government of Assam. In the memoranda, the organization said that the Range Officer concerned under the Lakhimpur Soil Conservation Division had been working here for a long period, due to which corruption was going on unabatedly. Under such circumstances, the organization demanded the Chief Minister and the Government of Assam to initiate legitimate action against the allegedly corrupted officers, employees and contractors by launching a probe at the earliest.
