LAKHIMPUR: The All Assam Unemployed Association (AAUA) has expressed vehement resentment and strong reaction over the alleged failure on the part of the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal-led State Government with regard to filling up vacant posts under various departments of the State.

In connection with the issue, AAUA State president-in charge Dharmendra Deuri and general secretary Jiban Rajkhowa stated in a press release that the State Government could not disclose the candidate selection list for appointment to Grade-IV posts under the Electricity Department till date although the interview for appointment to the posts concerned was held long ago.

"The selection list concerned has not been disclosed till the date due to allegations regarding the collection of cash by a section of people close to then Power Minister Tapan Gogoi to have their candidates appointed in the Electricity Department," the AAUA president-in charge and general secretary stated in the press release.

In the same press release, the president-in charge and the general secretary of the organization alleged that a section of political leaders had collected cash from most of the candidates to include their names in the selection lists prepared for appointment to 643 posts under the Irrigation Department too.

"Though written test for appointment to the 643 posts under Irrigation Department was held, the question papers were leaked. An institution, named APTECH, which was blacklisted by Allahabad High Court, was engaged for holding the written test. Opposing it, our organization initiated intensified protest at that time which subsequently led several candidates to file complaint in the Gauhati High Court. Significantly, some allegations regarding the collection of cash by a section of political leaders from many candidates to include their names in the selection lists have been informed to our organization. In this regard, we demand the Chief Minister to take steps to ensure appointment of eligible candidates in the posts concerned," the press release asserted.
