Abhi, Neel mob lynching case: Court conducts cross examination of investigation officer

NAGAON: The Nagaon district and session courts carried out the cross-examination of the investigation officer (IO) in the sensational Abhijit Nath and Nilotpal Das mob lynching cases on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

According to sources, the court on Saturday fixed the next dates of September 29 and 30 for further cross-examination of the investigation officer in connection with the widespread heinous incident, adding that two Guwahati-based young boys who had gone for a nature trial into the remote Dokmoka areas in Karbi Anglong district were brutally lynched as suspected child lifters by a local mob on their way back on June 8 in 2018. Over 48 accused were identified and recorded in the charge sheet in connection with the shocking incident; among those, one was a juvenile, sources added.
