LAKHIMPUR: Abhinava Theatre, an amateur theatre group of Lakhimpur, will host a four-day-long National Theatre Festival from October 28 to October 31. In the event, several theatre groups from West Bengal, Tripura, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and the native State will stage dramas of 'serious and conscious trend'. The event will be held at Abhinava Theatre Project, located at Maj-Gaon, Bokanadi Phulbari under the district.

This was informed by Dayal Krishna Nath, noted theater personality-cum-journalist, who is the secretary of Abhinava Theatre in a press conference held at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Wednesday in the presence of Ravi Varma, noted theatre personality of Bihar, and Abhinava Theatre coordinator Tarun Krishna Nath. In the press meet, Dayal Krishna Nath further said that two dramas would be staged during the festival from 6 pm everyday in the proscenium stage set up in a rural environment.

According to him, Dhalhineswar Sanket from West Bengal will stage Rupai Saju Kotha in the Bengali language under the direction of Priyanku Roy on October 28 while Abhinava Theatre will stage Kadwa Sach in Hindi under the direction of Dayal Krishna Nath. Serumpur Toposhya from West Bengal will stage Birohini in Bengali on October 29 while Soliloquist in Hindi will be staged by Shanti Cultural Foundation from Uttar Pradesh and Dumur Natya Gosthi of Gigamukh will stage Moru in the Mising language on the same day. Similarly, Rudrakshya of Bihpuriya of the native State will stage Iswarar Sandhanat in the Assamese language on October 29 while Kalabhumi from Tripura will present Antar-Dahan in the Bengali language. On the concluding day, Gobardanga Mridangam will perform Chayakrito in the Bengali language and Ashirbad Rang Mandal from Bihar will stage Kathkaraj in Hindi.

Notably, Abhinava Theatre has been taking part in various national level theatre events organized in different parts of the nation bringing laurels to the State.

North Lakhimpur Press Club accorded warm felicitation to the noted Bihar theatre personality Ravi Verma in the press conference.
