KOKRAJHAR: The activists of All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has decided to intensify massive protest programmes with 10,000 students demanding removal of the Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University (BU) Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh on September 30.
Talking to the reporters at Bodofa House, the president of ABSU Dipen Boro said the union will continue its agitation until action is taken against the arrested accused. He questioned on whose orders the VC of BU Laishram Ladu Singh is continuing his duty? He said 10,000 students will take part in the 5-hour protest demonstration in front of BU on September 30. He alleged that academic advisor of Governor and Chancellor of BU Mihir Kanti Choudhury was the person shielding VC to continue in his position despite having case on corruption charges.
“We are ashamed that a person of a prestigious higher educational institution, involved in corruption cases, can be continuing office on bail. He also said the Governor house had not taken any action.
Boro said ABSU will fight until Singh is removed from the post of VC of BU. The high-level inquiry committee has started inquiry and the time for submitting report was over. “We don’t know what is the report of inquiry committee about Singh.”
The ABSU will send memorandum to the President of India, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister through massive protest demonstration seeking action on him. He said they have called on the Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in this regard. He also said ABSU will not remain silent on the issue. He further said other students’ organizations too would be invited in the massive protest programme.
The ABSU has warned that the union will go for indefinite strike.
