Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) on Saturday laid the foundation stone for Assam Cricket Association's (ACA) and grand project to
develop a cricket stadium and a pavilion at New Tumbung in Umrangso, Dima
Hasao.
During the event Lalremsiama Darnei, Executive Member, DHAC; Romen Dutta, President, Assam Cricket Association; Devajit Saikia, Secretary, Assam Cricket Association; Porikshit Dutta, Vice-President, Assam Cricket Association; Tridib Konwar, Treasurer, Assam Cricket Association and members of Dima Hasao District Sports Association and Garampani Sports Association were also present during the ceremony.
According to the report, the project which was undertaken by ACA was a challenging project.
The stadium is considered one of the most far-sighted projects.
North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) allotted 30 bighas of land to ACA.
The project is a part of a series of cricket infrastructural projects undertaken by the Assam Cricket Association across the State to revolutionize the cricketing landscape.
Earlier, The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Nalbari College to upgrade the Nalbari College Field to an international-level playground. The MoU was signed at Nalbari College on September 03. ACA president Ramen Dutta, secretary Devajit Saikia, chief executive officer Pritam Mahanta, Nalbari College Principal Dr Kamal Narayan Patowary, local MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah, district sports officer BishnuKalita and many sportsmen were present in the function. According to the MOU, the ACA will adopt the field and transform it into a stadium.
