RANGIYA: A road accident caimed the life of one in the Rangiya region of the state. The two wheeler that the victim was driving was also damaged in the accident.

The accident took place at night at the Udiyana locality on the National Highway number 27. The victim was identified as 32 years old Mintu Baishya belonging to the Nalbari District of the state. Meanwhile the two wheeler he was on, a TVS Ntorq bearing registration number AS 14 P 7100 suffered total damages.

People who witnessed the incident mentioned that the victim was moving from Guwahati side towards nalbari when he encountered with the accident. He reportedly hit the divider on the national highway at a high speed which threw him off the vehicle and landed about 20 feet away. Police arrived at the location and shifted the victim to a medical facility in Rangiya, but the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile the accident also caused a massive traffic jam on one lane of the national highway. Police took the necessary steps and cleared the traffic in some time.

In another accident, aleast seven Assam Engineering College (AEC) students have tragically perished in a vehicle accident that occurred in the early hours of Monday in Guwahati's Jalukbari neighbourhood. Ten people were in the car that the students had rented when the accident happened, according to sources. According to a report, they were travelling in a Scorpio car with the licence plate As 01 GC 8829 when the driver lost control, crossed over a divider, and collided with a Bolero DI pickup van in the opposite lane on the Guwahati side of the Jalukbari Flyover road at 1 in the morning. Moreover, all three people in the DI vehicle were also sent to GMCH for immediate treatment at the same time. Taking on Twitter, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, "Extremely anguished by the loss of young and precious lives in the road accident at Jalukbari. My deepest condolences to their parents and families.
