TINSUKIA: Following allegation of gratification by 13 LP School teachers against Sanjib Dihingia, a junior assistant under BEEO Hapjan in Tinsukia district, the Director of Elementary Education Assam had imposed punitive action against Dihingia.
According to the order issued by Director of Elementary Education, Assam vide number EAA-16/2021/170 of 31.10.2023, the 13 teachers had not received their salaries up to 3 months from the date of joining due to negligence of Dihingia who also took bribe for an amount of Rs 500-1500 from each of them for updating their NPS Process and to release their salaries. After 13 teachers submitted their allegation against Dihingia, the DEEO Tinsukia during his inquiry established that Dihingia accepted gratification from the teachers and the former also failed to submit substantial evidence in defence of the allegation levelled against him who also had previous complaints of taking bribe in official works even as the DEEO solved the pending salary problems on the date itself.
As punitive action, Sanjib Dihingia was transferred to the office of DEEO, Tinsukia and further for lowering the dignity and reputation of the Department. Dihingia’s increment was withdrawn with cumulative effect while all the 13 complainant assistant teachers were warned not to offer any gratification for carrying out their official works in future as such type of malpractice for being government servants giving and accepting bribes are both punishable offence in the eye of law as per Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
