TINSUKIA: The Dangori CHC (Community Health Centre) under Doomdooma Revenue Circle in Tinsukia district has been facing acute shortage of health staff with the lone doctor rendering service to hundreds of patients daily. The CHC with 30 bed capacity has provision for five doctors while four others have been attached to other hospitals. Recently, the hospital was designated as COVID-19 care centre.

According to information, due to inadequate number of doctors and paramedics, the hospital had to shut down services after dusk and this had caused a lot of inconvenience to relatives of patients who, having no alternative, had to shift serious patients, particularly delivery cases, to either Doomdooma or Tinsukia. According to a source, out of five doctors, two doctors are allegedly serving in other hospitals of their choice, one doctor has been attached to Saikhowa Ghat primary health centre while another was shifted to the COVID-19 centre of GNB Civil Hospital, Tinsukia. Though the Health Department is well aware of the health scenario of Dangori, it has allegedly turned a blind eye to the state of affairs.
