TINSUKIA,: The PM Kisan Samman Sanmelan was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tinsukia at TDA cultural centre on Monday. The programme was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi aiming to bring together more than 13,500 farmers and around 1,500 agri-startups from across the country.
The meeting at Tinsukia started with a welcome address by Senior Scientist and KVK Head, Tinsukia, Gayatri Deori Bhuyan followed by deliberation of Narsing Pawar Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia who briefed the participants about PM Kisan Samman Sanmelan and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) through Direct Benefit Transfer. He also encouraged the farmers to adopt new technology for sustainable agriculture. The event was also attended by Sarfraz Haque, ADC, Tinsukia,Tapan Neog, District Agriculture Officer, Tinsukia, Nilim Kalita, Junior Scientist CRS, Tinsukia and other senior officials of District Agriculture. Officers and scientists and staff of KVK, Tinsukia participated in the event. A total of 265 farmers and farm women, members of FPC, and Jeevika Sakhi participated in the programme.
The web telecast included a speech addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who also inaugurated Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PMKSK) under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers besides launching Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana – One Nation One Fertilizer. The programme also involved AgriStartup Conclave and Exhibition and about 300 startups showcased their innovation related to Precision Farming, Post-Harvest & Value Add Solutions, Allied Agriculture, Waste to Wealth, Mechanisation for Small Farmers, Supply Chain Management, Argi-Logistic, among others.
