Adya shraddha of Dhola victims held in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: The collective adya shraddha of five persons - Shyamal Biswas (60), Ananta Biswas (18), Abinas Biswas (20), Dhananjay Namasudra and Subal Das (60) of Bisonimukh-Kherbari village under Dhola Police Station in Tinsukia district who were killed in on November 1 by unidentified gunmen, was held in the village on Sunday.

A team to pro-talk ULFA leaders comprising Anup Chetia, Prabal Neog, and Antu Chowdang attended the adya shraddha ceremony and appealed to all to maintain peace and harmony and to refrain from making any provocative statements. The representative of different ethnic bodies like All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), All Moran Students’ Union (AMSU), Sonowal-Kachari Students’ Union and Assam Tea-tribes Students’ Association (ATTSA) also attended the function.

All Assam Bengali Yuba-Chatra Federation, Tinsukia District Committee, which declared the five persons as martyrs, erected the martyrs’ commemorative column near the incident site and declared it open in the morning on Sunday by lighting ceremonial lamps in the hallowed memory of the five persons.
