GORESWAR: Apart from many other districts, the cases of African swine fever have been continuously increasing in Baksa district too. In an alarming situation, more than 40 cases of African swine fever have been reported in the Goreswar Circle in Baksa.

A 'Rapid Response Team' (RRT) with Goreswar police and civil administration has been constituted to take action for the culling of more than 40 infected pigs at Karipara Village under Goreswar revenue circle in Baksa district.

At Karipara Village — where more than 40 infected pigs and piglets were disposed in a big hole within Ouguri Reserve Forest area with the help of JCB and tractors.

Already, 44 pigs have dead due to some unknown diseases a few days back in a piggery farm at Karipara village. Samples of the dead pig were sent to the laboratory which brought the incident into light.

Meanwhile, the administration has prohibited the selling and purchase of pigs and piglets within one kilometer centering the village Karipara for three months in Tamulpur Civil Sub division in the district.
