Guwahati: Dr. Binay Kumar Saikia who is a scientist of the Council
Of Scientific And Industrial Research–North East Institute of Science andTechnology (CSIR–NEIST) has received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for Science and
Technology.
According to the report, the CSIR announced it on Sunday.
Dr. Saikia has received the award for his research on Geo-atmosphere.
It needs to be mentioned that after 20 years, the honour has been received by an Assamese scientist today.
Earlier, the Assam government has appointed Dipak Chakravarty as the Chairman of the Assam Engineering Service Recruitment Board. The announcement was made by Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu. He wrote on his Twitter, "Greeted and welcomed Shri Dipak Chakravarty who has been appointed as the Chairman of Assam Engineering Service Recruitment Board. Sri Chakravarty is a Chemical Engineer from Northwestern University, USA and gold medalist from Gauhati University."
Pegu informed that Dipak Chakravarty played a leading role in the establishment of NRL from conception to commission. Besides, he worked for Digboi Refinery, Assam Oil Company, Indian Oil Corporation and Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission.
