GUWAHATI: After District Admin decided to shut veg selling zones in Guwahati after people violated social distancing rule, the government has announced that throughout Assam only grocery shops and pharmacy shops will be open. Rest everything will be shut. Meat and fish shops will be shut. After review the situation on April 1, it will be decided if meat and fish shops can be open.
As far as timing is concerned, local Deputy commissioners will take that decision depending on the requirements of their wards and regions. Also arrangements have been put in place where vegetables and other requirements can be delivered to people at their doorstep.
Earlier, Assam Police had said, "Assam police has said, “We’re saddened to see that even after repeated appeals from the highest in the land, citizens refuse to follow #SocialDistanacing.
They’re endangering everyone, including their own parents & children.
Given the gravity of situation, all weekly & daily open markets of vegetables, fish & meat are being closed.
These visuals show a dangerous reality.
Please follow #Lockdown21 guidelines.”
