LAKHIMPUR: A conclave on agri-value-chain financing was organized on Thursday at Utsav Bhawan, located in North Lakhimpur town under the auspices of the APART, Lakhimpur District and Lakhimpur District Agriculture Office in order to bridge the knowledge gap and introduce appropriate financial instruments to propagate provision of financial services in the agricultural sector. Officials of various farmer producers’ companies of Lakhimpur, Majuli and Dhemaji districts, block technical managers, assistant technology managers and progressive farmers participated in the conclave.
Explaining the purpose of the meeting, District Agriculture Officer, Lakhimpur, Bhawajit Doley welcomed the FPC, progressive farmers from all the three districts to the event. District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, who graced the occasion as chief guest, delivered a elaborated lecture on agricultural commercialization.
Nitin Singh, the Financial Services Specialist from ARIAS-APART, discussed the ‘Xamahar Project’, detailing its offerings and provisions tailored for Assam’s FPOs and farmers. The conclave highlighted the recent developments in agricultural finance and promote various value-chain financing options, including Working Capital, Term Loans, Insurance, Social Security Schemes, and Digital Financial Literacy. Attending the event, Lakhimpur ADC (Agriculture) Sulakhyana Borpatragohain, District Nodal Officer APART Lakhimpur, SDAO- Narayanpur Ghanashyam Dutta, Officials of ARIAS society, Scientist of Zonal Agricultural Research Station-North Lakhimpur Yater Das, Chief Scientist of KVK-Lakhimpur Prasanta Pathak made insightful presentations addressing the FPOs and attendee farmers.
