DIBRUGARH: application in different crop cultivation has a crucial role in enhancing the productivity of crops along with aftereffects of enhanced income and profit. Agricultural Economist Hemchandra Saikia of the 'Krishi Vigyan Kendra' Dibrugarh informed that the farmers for proper application of fertilizers, Farm Yard Manures etc at the right time and place with a proper method of application can enhance the productivity and production of crops without increasing its area of cultivation.

He urged farmers to apply a balanced dose of fertilizers as recommended by agricultural experts always. Because, Saikia said, imbalance application of fertilizers can hamper proper crop growth and development, encourage disorders and diseases or attack of harmful insect pest attack besides deteriorating soil health and fertility and the ultimate result is the heavy reduction of crop output and a loss to our farmers in terms of both physical quantities and monetary terms and their discontentment.

He also urged applying fertilizers as per the recommendation of soil health card if that is available and those without soil health card can approach nearby Krishi Vigyan Kendra or establishments having soil-testing facilities in the district and can get their soil health card.

As a part of this programme, Kendra distributed 1605 kg of fertilizers (Urea-650kg, SSP-625kg & MOP-330kg) to its beneficiary farmers of No.1 Kunwar gaon who were given the opportunity for the cultivation of submergence tolerant rice variety Ranjit Sub-1 on demonstration mode under the direction of the head, Dr Diganta Sarmah.
