Agricultural Information Centre of RAWEP Inaugurated in Mangaldai

MANGALDAI: The students of Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme (RAWEP) of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat organized a programme for inauguration of the Agricultural Information Centre (AIC) in the premises of Krishak Jyoti Sangha at village Dhuwapara near Mangaldai under the guidance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Darrang on Wednesday.

The students prepared various models like Integrated Farming System, Roof Top Gardening, Solar Irrigation, Drip Irrigation and Water Harvesting Model. In the inaugural function, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Darrang, Manoj Kumar Chauhan elaborated the objective of the AIC and its importance. Professor of the Department of Crop Physiology, AAU, Dr.

Kaushik Das stressed the importance of RAWEP for the students in transforming their acquired knowledge to a complete Agri graduate /scientist as a whole and to acquaint them with the farming system of the villages.

Mangaldai legislator Gurujyoti Das, attending the meeting as the chief guest, urged the gathering to extract the best out of the programme for improving the cultivation practices and in adopting low-cost models. He congratulated the students of AAU for their creative activities.

Presiding over the function, retired Headmaster of Dahi Middle English School, Tanu Ram Deka urged upon the farming community to take the opportunities available at their doorstep.
