Guwahati: After a long wait, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has finally declared the 12th results in the Arts, Science, and Commerce streams.
This year, 78.28% (or 1,31,794 out of 1,68,367) of the candidates passed out from the Arts stream, which is a significant improvement from last year's pass percentage marks of 75.14. While 19,850 candidates passed with first division marks, 44,191 candidates passed with the second division, and 67,753 candidates passed in the third division.
In the stream, girls outshone boys, as 85.02% of girls cleared the exams in comparison to 78.64% boys. Pubali Deka from Patharighat HS School and Shraddha Borgohain from the Ramanujan Junior College in Nagaon have emerged as the joint toppers from the stream this year. If we take a look back at past years, pass percentage was 73.14 % in 2011. It further dipped to 70.11 % in 2013, peaked in 2016 at 79.92%, and this year it is 78.28%. It had dipped to 73.16% in 2017, rose to 74.68% in 2018 and 75.14% in 2019. This time, as we have seen, the percentage of passed out students is even higher.
The pass percentage of Commerce this year is 88.18%. A grand total of 17,713 candidates across Assam appeared for the exam, out of which 15,619 candidates cleared it. Out of those, 3,870 candidates got first division marks, 5,415 candidates second division, and 6,334 candidates third division marks.
Krishna Maheshwari from the Salt Brook Academy in Dibrugarh, with 471 marks has emerged as this's year's topper in the stream.
The pass percentage in Science was also similar, as 88.06% of the appeared candidates (39,574) managed to clear the exam. While 16,928 candidates got first division, 14,747 candidates got second division, and 3,172 got third division marks.
Abinash Kalita, from the Anundoram Baroaah Academy with 486 marks has emerged as the topper in the AHSEC-conducted exam from the Science stream.
Last year, Commerce stream students had the best pass percentage of 87.59 percent followed by Science where the pass percentage was 86.59 percent and Arts students had the least pass percentage at 75.14 percent.
How to Check Results:
To check the result, go to the official website resultsassam.nic.in and click on the link for the Class 12 result.
Click on the link, which reads, "HS Final Year Examination Results 2020". It will open on a new webpage with a link that reads HS Final Year Exam Results 2020. Click on it to access the result webpage.
One the roll number and other credentials are displayed, one's results will be displayed
One can now check the results via phone. To get the result on your fingertips, type the message — ASSAM12ROLLNUMBER — and send it to 56263 to receive your Class 12 result.
At the same time, the board has also made the facility on the android app. Students can now check their scores through a result app suggested by the AHSEC named Upolobdha which is available to download from the Google Play Store. Once downloaded, enter your mobile number to register. Registered candidates can then tap on the Assam Board HS Result 2020 link and enter their roll number to view the result.
Provisions for Re-checking:
Applications for re-checking will be received through online mode. Candidates may log on to www.ahsec.nic.in or punarikshan.in for applying online.
Applications will be received from June 27 till July 7, and the AHSEC has made it very clear that the last date will not be extended under any circumstances.
