AIDSO submits memorandum to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

LAKHIMPUR: A delegation, led by All India Democratic Students’ Organization (AIDSO) State Secretary Hemanta Pegu, on Thursday called on the Secretary of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and the secretary of the council regarding the alleged leakage of the question paper of Chemistry subject of the HS final exam held on February 28.

The memorandum said, “The repeat of such incidents has proved that the Assam government is completely indifferent to the future of the students of the State and corruption is rampant in the Education department. Such incidents deeply affect the minds of the students and have a very negative impact. Such compromises by the government on the issue of neglect and corruption destroy off the entire year’s hard work of the students. How can two question papers be exactly the same without being leaked? The handwritten question papers were cleverly leaked and proves that the incident was premeditated. The Assam government has shown extreme irresponsibility by immediately denying the matter, which has raised suspicions in the minds of the people that even the top bureaucrats and employees may be involved in the matter. The Chief Minister’s silence on the incident has further intensified the suspicions of the people.”

Through the memorandum, the organization demanded the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter and conduct a high-level investigation into the incident, reveal the truth and to punish the culprits involved. The organization also demanded that appropriate measures be taken to prevent such incidents from being happened again. AIDSO has issued threat that it will launch democratic movement in the upcoming days if the demands are not fulfilled. On the other hand, the AHSEC secretary informed the delegate that they had taken the matter seriously and already registered a case at police station regarding the issue.
