Aimed at promoting tourism, Subansiri Fest to kick-off on March 25

LAKHIMPUR: To promote tourism, cultural diversity, handloom and textile, and sport, Kangkin Event will organize the Subansiri Fest-2019 from March 25 to March 28 with a four-day long programme.

The event will be held at Chaoldhowa in Lakhimpur district in order to spread a message to save the incomparable beauty of the Subansiri – the largest tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra. This was declared by Saurabh Jyoti Chintey, the secretary of the event organizing committee, at a press meet held at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Tuesday. He informed the media that off-roading race, auto cross, cycling cross country, rafting, mud race, bikers rally, zip lining, scuba diving, para-motoring, and ATV race would be organized as part of the event.

“The event is aimed to highlight the positive aspects of the region which is full of talent and resources. It targets to attract the mainland of India and the world through its rich and diversified cultures and folklore. It will be a carnival of various dance forms of the State, folk music, rock musicians of the region, ethnic food delicacies, handloom and handicraft art, agro and horticulture exhibitions, fashion shows, traditional and indigenous sports and adventure sports etc,” he added. Dyana Mara, Kristi Das and Gitanjali Lukhrakhan - Mrs India title winners of 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively - will take part as promoters in the event.
