MORIGAON: The newly-formed political party Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) led by Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Monday sounded the poll bugle for the upcoming assembly election-2021 in Morigaon constituency.

Lurinjyoti Gogoi vehemently criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. He assured that people who were being harassed in the name of NRC, despite having legal documents, would be provided all necessary help so that they could include their names in the NRC list, and they would also be provided free legal service if the AJP was voted to power in the State. Lurinjyoti Gogoi asked people not to vote for the BJP and the Congress if they wanted a society free from communal politics. He appealed to people to save Assam from 'evil powers' like the BJP and the Congress.

Criticizing BJP minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) leader Badruddin Ajmal, Gogoi said that both Himanta and Ajmal were playing dirty communal politics. "But the AJP does not play politics in the name of religion. On the contrary, AJP is always inspired by the ideologies of Sankardeva and Azan Fakir," he said.

Highlighting the erosion and road problems of Morigaon district, the AJP leader said that the major problem of the district was erosion. Due to erosion, many people had become homeless and the BJP government had failed to protect them. The roads connecting from Morigaon to Bhuragaon were in a pathetic condition due to the apathy of the government, said Gogoi.
