NAGAON: Along with the rest of the State, the district body of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Wednesday staged a strong sit-in against the State Government's recent decision to teach subjects like Mathematics and Science in English medium from Class III onwards, in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon.
Over a hundred protesters from the youth organization participated in the stir and also criticized the BJP-led alliance government in the State for its decision. During the protest, the protesters shouted various slogans against the decision of the government and demanded to roll back the decision.
Besides, the activists also demanded education only in the mother language as per the National Education Policy. The protesters warned that if the government did not roll back its decision in this regard, they would go for massive protests against it in the days to come.
Noted Assamese litterateur and short story-teller Sibananda Kakoti, state joint secretary of the organization, Bipul Bora, and other leaders were present during the protest.
