LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has urged Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Health Minister Keshab Mahanta to set up five Incentive Care Units (ICUs) in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH) immediately in view of rapid surge of the COVID-19 patients in the district along with other neighbouring districts.
The organization extended warm greetings to the new Chief Minister and other ministers of his government through a press communique sent to the media. In the press communique, Lakhimpur district unit AJYCP president Hiranya Dutta and general secretary Debojit Deka Baruah said that the COVID-19 situation during the second wave of the contagion had turned critical in Lakhimpur district as well as in the State along with nation. Under such circumstances, the organization appealed to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister to introduce and accelerate all functions in LMCH and to make all medical services available in the institution at the earliest.
In the press communiqué, the president and the general secretary of the organization further stated that the present Chief Minister, while taking part in an election campaign rally organized before the assembly poll at Tyag Kshetra of North Lakhimpur town on behalf of present Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka, declared that cent per cent unemployed educated youths under Lakhimpur district would be appointed in the Grade III and Grade IV posts of LMCH. The organization called upon the Chief Minister to fulfill the poll promise by holding recruitment test locally covering only Lakhimpur district. In this regard, the organization called upon Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka to initiate due steps.
