Golaghat: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Golaghat district committee along with several ethnic organizations carried out a massive protest programme on Thursday in Golaghat town near the Indoor Stadium.

The protesters raised slogans against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 and the delegates participated in the protest programme to strongly oppose the Act. Later, the protesters carried out a rally throughout Golaghat town and gathered near the Deputy Commissioner’s office to stage a protest demanding scraping of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Addressing the protesters, the president and secretary of the organization, Abdul Hasim and Nikunja Medhi respectively, said that the decision taken by the Central and State governments to settle illegal Hindu migrants by amending the Citizenship Act would never be accepted. The Golaghat AJYCP warned the BJP government to stop thinking about settling Hindu migrants in Assam and said that the organization would continue protesting against the CAA till it was scrapped.
