AJYP Golaghat district committee demands withdrawal of CAA, EIA & farm Bills

GOLAGHAT: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad (AJYP) Golaghat district committee on Tuesday formed human chain near the Deputy Commissioner's office to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), 2020 and the farm bills.

Almost 200 activists of the organization took part in the protest programme and promoted awareness against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as well as the farm bills. AJYCP activists shouted various slogans against the BJP-Central Government as well as the Sarbananda Sonowal-led State Government.

AJYP central committee general secretary Udayan Kumar Gogoi said that the government should withdraw CAA, EIA and the anti-farmer bills from Assam. Further, he said that the controversial CAA would destroy the geographical identity of the people of Assam. "We will never allow Assam to become the second Tripura. Likewise, the EIA -2020 is a serious threat to the environment of the north-eastern region," he said. The AJYP demanded withdrawal of CAA, farm bills as well as the EIA immediately.
