RANGIA: All 15 nomination papers submitted to the Returning Officer of 56 No. Kamalpur LAC and 57 no. Rangia LAC were found valid after scrutiny.
According to the District Election Officer (DEO) of Rangia Election District, Swapneel Paul, 15 nominations - six for 56 no. Kamalpur LAC and nine for 57 no Rangia LAC- were checked and declared valid. As a result total 15 candidates will be in fray in Rangia Election District in the upcoming Assembly election.
The candidates for 56 no. Kamalpur LAC are Diganta Kalita (BJP), Kishore Kumar Bhattacharyya (INC), Sishir Kumar Kakati (SUCI(M)), Kamlesh Deka (Assam Jatiya Parishad-supported independent) Jitul Deka (Raijor Dal-supported independent) and Girin Goswami (Independent).
On the other hand, nine candidates filed nominations for 57- Rangia LAC. They are Bhabesh Kalita (BJP), Bhagawan Dev Mishra (CPI(M)), Sayed Sahabuddin Ali Ahmed (Independent), Hareswar Barman (Raijor Dal supported Independent), Jayanta Kumar Kalita (Independent), Debabrat Kalita (Asom Sangrami Mancha), Pabitra Boro (Voters Party International), Babul Saharia (Assam Jatiya Parishad-supported Independent), and Biswajit Brahma (Janata Dal United).
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 17, the DEO said. He has requested all the political parties and their supporters to maintain COVID protocol and strictly follow the Model Code of Conduct.
