All Assam Adivasi Students Association of Assam stages protest

DHEKIAJULI: The All Assam Adivasi Students' Association of Assam (AASAA ) Dhekiajuli unit, on Tuesday submitted a memorandum containing their charter of demands to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal through the Circle Officer, Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle, Kamal Jyoti Borah. The Adivasi students' body demanded immediate declaration of ST status to the Adivasi communities. The student body alleged that in the in 2016 pre-election assurance, the present BJP government had assured the community that if voted to power, they would take necessary steps for the declaration of the ST status for the Adivasi community. But after coming to power, the present BJP government, both at the Centre and in the State, did not took any favourable steps for fulfilment of their demands.
