All Assam Electricity Consumers’ Association initiate a Signature campaign against hike in electricity tarriff

LAKHIMPUR: The All Assam Electricity Consumers’ Association has initiated a signature campaign from Friday in order to oppose hike in electricity tarriff and to demand for repeal of the “corporate-friendly” Electricity Amendment Bill-2022 and withdrawal of the Prepaid Smart Meter. The organization will submit a memorandum with five lakh signatures to the Chief Minister in support of the demands. The Lakhimpur district unit of the organization also started the campaign from the same day extending full support to the State committee. The members of the organization initiated the campaign in front of the Bar Library of North Lakhimpur town, wherein common people were seen extending their signature in support of the demands.
