All Assam Gorkha Students' Union Protests Against 'Exclusion' of Gorkha People

GOLAGHAT: The All Assam Gorkha Students' Union, Golaghat district unit, along with other Gorkha community organizations staged a three-hour sit-in near the Deputy Commissioner's office on Thursday against the exclusion of Gorkha people from the NRC.

The activists of the organizations shouted various slogans against the Assam Government as well as NRC State coordinator Prateek Hajela. The activists said that names of indigenous Gorkha community people had been excluded from the final NRC. They demanded the government to included names of genuine Gorkha people in the final NRC without any terms and conditions. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat.
