All-Assam Quiz competition held

GOLAGHAT: An all-Assam quiz competition was organized at the behest of the Students’ Union of Hemo Prova Borbora Girls’ College in memory of the founder Principal Dr. B. P. Singh. The competition was participated by nineteen leading quiz teams from across the State. Popular quizmaster from Digboi, Sayantan Saikia conducted the quiz. Two solo competitors Raktim Ranjan Baishya from Nalbari Law College and Shayan Majumder from Gauhati Medical College bagged the first and the second prizes respectively, while the team of Siddique Nishat and Shaqil Ahmed Afridi from Jorhat Medical College secured the third position. The winner teams received certificates and trophies along with the cash prizes of rupees ten thousand, eight thousand and six thousand respectively. Maintaining the reputation of providing substantial financial assistance to the college by its teachers for the improvement of the academic aspects of the college, the cash prizes for the first, second, and the third best teams were forwarded by the Principal Dr. Bulbuli Boruah, Dr. Palash Handique of the Department of Economics, and Dr.Dibyajyoti Borah of Department of English. The competition was held in two rounds and six teams were selected for the final round. The other three finalist teams Anujshankar Debnath and Parthajyoti Bharadwaj of gauhati University, Priyanuj Parashar of Cotton University, and Siddhartha Bora and Mohd. Minhajuddin Auchari of Tezpur University were also given the trophies and certificates of participation, stated a press release.
