TANGLA: Like every year, the Tangla regional unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) feted a number of meritorious students who passed the last HSLC exam with flying colours, along with two PhD scholars of the greater Tangla area, in the Bordoloi Bhavan premises on Sunday.
Attending the programme as chief guest, Professor of the Department of Zoology, Gauhati University, Jogen Chandra Kalita said, “Self-confidence and proper zeal to gain knowledge along with dedication and hard work are key to success.” Citing the hardships he endured in his childhood, he said that it was just one’s will power which would take one to the destination.
Speaking on the occasion as appointed speaker, senior journalist Nitumani Saikia called upon the students for all-round development. He said that academic education lacking moral and social ethics would not leave a mark on a person in the long run. He exhorted the students to discover their potential and skills and hone them to reach their goal of life.
Earlier, the programme was inaugurated by assistant general secretary of AASU, Jayanta Kr. Bhattacharjya who recalled the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs of the historic Assam Movement.
