MORIGAON: AASU’s executive body was formed with Utpal Sarma as the president and Shankar Jyoti Baruah as the general secretary. Rupjyoti Medhi was elected as the organizing secretary of All Assam Students’ Union for four years in the 18th delegates’ meeting which was held in Morigaon.

After being appointed as the president of the organisation, Utpal Sharma said, “I will continue to serve with loyalty and honesty. I am looking forward to the blessings and patronage of the people of Assam at this moment. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the people of Morigaon. They kept the organization alive within their hearts. The 18th session of the AASU was completed and successful. From now on, the responsibility has increased. At this moment, I pay mu tribute to the sacrifices of the national martyrs. I am seeking the guardianship of the Assamese people so that I can continue to work in favour of the indigenous people. We can continue to work to ensure the educational future of the students. I wish the blessings of the people, teachers and elders for this. It is the first time that the representatives of AASU from different districts and the members of the state executive have placed their trust in me and given me the responsibility of the general secretary for the second time. I will try to fight every problem from the front by staying within the boundaries of the Constitution with sincerity and honesty and winning the hearts of every worker of the Chhatra Sangha. I expect the blessings of the people of Assam, cooperation and good wishes from the members of the AASU in every field.” The 18th session of AASU concluded with enthusiasm today.
