TINSUKIA : The Tinsukia District Students’ Union in response to statewide call of AASU, observed a 10-hour hunger strike to protest escalating price rise of essential commodities in front of AASU’s office near Tinsukia College on Tuesday. More than 50 AASU activists led by Samar Jyoti Gohain, general secretary of Tinsukia District Students’ Union participated in the protest.

Golaghat: The activists of All Assam Students’ Union of Golaghat district unit staged a 10-hour hunger strike in front of the Swahid Bhawan on Tuesday protesting against the skyrocketing price hike of petrol, diesel, LPG as well as essential commodities. The student activists started hunger strike from morning 6 am and ended at 4pm.

In a press statement, the president Niranjan Sonowal and general secretary Prince Doley said that prices of essential items including medicines, LPG, electricity bill, petrol have been increasing day by day. No initiative has been seen from the government to control the price hike. AASU central committee assistant general secretary Abhibartan Goswami slammed the BJP government and said that common people are suffering from economical hardships. The organization threatened further agitation.

MORIGAON: AASU staged a 10-hour hunger strike in protest against the price hike of essential commodities in the Swahid Bhawan premises in Morigaon on Tuesday. AASU led by its state president (in charge) Utpal Sarma staged protest criticizing the BJP government for failure to control the price of essential commodities due to which the common people are suffering.
