DULIAJAN: The Dibrugarh District unit of All Assam Students Union's (AASU), on Saturday, staged protests at all regional units in favour of their demands to increase in the number of seats in all the colleges and higher secondary schools of the district so as to facilitate every HSLC and HS-passed students at least a seat.
"To give every passed-out student a seat in higher secondary or graduate level every educational institutions should make necessary arrangements to increase in the number of seats. As the number of HSLC and HS examination-cleared students rises up this year, it is the prime responsibility of the Government of Assam to give educational facilities inside higher secondary and graduate level institutions to every students,'' stated the memorandum of the Duliajan unit of AASU. The students body submitted the memorandum to Education Minister Ranoj Pegu.
Members of the Duliajan unit of AASU also staged a protest at Pipoltul Tiniali of Duliajan oil township. Bubul Talukdar, president, Duliajan Unit AASU, Dipangkar Gogoi, general secretary, Duliajan unit AASU, Pradip Gogoi, executive member of Dibrugarh District unit of AASU led the protest.
AASU Duliajan unit also demanded infrastructural development in each government-run higher secondary and college institutions in accordance with the ratio of their number of students, to fill the vacant post of teachers and promotion of every 50 year old high schools to higher secondary schools. The Duliajan unit of AASU also sent its memorandum through Circle officer of Tengaghat revenue circle.
Echoing the demands of Duliajan unit of AASU, the Namrup regional unit of the organization staged similar mode of protest at Sonari Tiniali of Namrup. Dibrugarh District education secretary Manabjyoti Changmai, in charge president of Namrup unit of AASU Satyapratim Rajput, general secretary Ashim Phukan led the more than two hours of the sit in demonstration today. Namrup unit of AASU added appointment of a regular principal at Namrup College and establishment of a state government run higher secondary school at Namrup.
Taking the protest to one step severe level Naharkatia unit of AASU today burned the effigy of Ranoj Pegu in front of their office at Naharkatia.
The education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu has failed to take necessary measures to facilitate every HSLC and HS passed out students a seat for higher studies. So he must have to face the wrath of the student community on his failure to ensure formal educational right to every students. Pranjal Pratim Gogoi, AASU general secretary, Naharkatia unit said.
Dibrugarh District unit vice president of AASU Jayanta Konwar, organising secretary Bitupan Gogoi, Naharkatia AASU unit president Ritupan Gogoi led the protest at Naharkatia.
