All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) observes 33rd death anniversary of Bodofa UN Brahma

KOKRAJHAR: All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and UN Brahma Trust jointly observed the 33rd death anniversary of Bodofa UN Brahma across the State and other parts of the country on Monday in every district, anchalik and unit level. The central committee, ABSU observed the day at the burial ground at Thulungapuri, Dotma in Kokrajhar district.

As part of the programme, the vice president of the ABSU Kwrwmdao Wary hoisted the organizational flag at half mast while the chairman of UNB Trust Dr. Subung Basumatary and MLA Lawrence Islary offered the floral tribute at his grave yard. ABSU vice president paid floral tribute at the statue of Bodofa followed by releasing of pigeons for peace and harmony by invited dignitaries.

Talking to newsmen, the vice president of ABSU Kwrwmdao Wary said the students’ body and UNB Trust jointly organized the death anniversary of Bodofa in Dotma and remembered his selfless dedication to the Bodos and other down trodden communities. He said Bodofa dreamt for strong foundation of great Bodo nationality by uniting them to raise voice against injustice and exploitation. He also said had there been no Bodofa at that time the Bodos would not reached to this level. The setting up of higher educational institutions like university, engineering college, medical college and other important institutions could become a reality today as it were Bodofa’s dream of making Bodos a master race in the world, he said adding that the theme of Bodofa -”Live and let live” had inspired all to live peacefully together. He also called upon all to follow the thought and principles of Bodofa UN Brahma.

MLA Lawrence Islary said Bodofa UN Brahma designed the future planning of the Bodos. He said the burial ground of Bodofa at Dotma Thulungapuri would be a centre of excellence as resource persons coming from different parts of the world and visitor will get every information of Bodofa. He said government of Assam had already announced some crore of rupees for structural development at Thulungapuri. He also thanked the government of Assam for observing the birth day of Bodofa UN Brahma, March 31 as the state’s Student’s Day from this year.

The death anniversary programme was also attended by leaders of various organizations and students. The president of ABSU Dipen Boro attended the programme in Udalguri.
