KOKRAJHAR: Like in previous years, the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) organized Rongjali Bwisagu at KDSA field, Kokrajhar on Friday with an aim to strengthen peace and bond of unity and brotherhood. A Bwisagu dance competition was also held.
As part of the programme, the president of the ABSU Dipen Boro hoisted the organizational flag while ex-president of the All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS) Ranjit Kr. Borgoyary released pigeons for peace followed by giving respect to elders.
The president of the ABSU Dipen Boro said that the union had been organizing the open Rongjali Bwisagu to keep peace intact and to enhance love and brotherhood in the society besides preserving the tradition of Bwisagu festival. He said the Bwisagu is the greatest festival of the Bodos and they have unique cultural identity. He called upon all to preserve the very unique identity and culture and to celebrate the Bwisagu with traditional fervour. He also asked the young generations not to mix up the Bwisagu traditional songs and dance with western art and style and modern instruments. He also hoped that the Rongjali Bwisagu will bring peace and integrity among all sections of people in the region.
