KOKRAJHAR: After the removal of Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh, Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University, the All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) welcomed the decision of the Governor of Assam asking the VC Singh for compulsory leave.

In a statement, the president of the ABSU Dipen Boro said the student body has withdrawn the decision for a series of movements, declared on November 28 last. The ABSU carried out series of agitations for the couple of months, demanding expulsion of Prof. Laishram Ladu Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University for his alleged involvement in appointment, illegal admission, favouritism in drawing salary, work order without tender in construction of market shed, drain, culvert etc. Simultaneously, the union demanded the Director of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption of CM’s Special Vigilance Cell for strong action against such corruption and anomalies through the ongoing investigation process.

The All- Bodo Students Union expressed gratitude to all sections of people, academicians, intellectuals and students of all categories for their cooperation during the time of democratic agitation. Boro also said the ABSU will always work for the interest of the development of the prestigious Bodoland University and for the welfare of the students’ community.
