TINSUKIA: The All Moran Students' Union (AMSU) has strongly condemned unprovoked lathi charge and firing on peacefully agitating protesters for their compensation demands at Baghjan on Saturday and demanded unconditional release of innocent persons who were arrested on fake charges and to provide adequate treatment to those injured.
In a statement to the press, Munin Duarah general secretary of AMSU has stated that the joint meeting held at Badousa Bhawan on Sunday with Hem Baruah acting president of AMSU and Rajib Borah president Asom Moran Sabha in the chair announced 24 hours oil blockade programme on Monday besides it also demanded the OIL to release list of CSR activities. The organisation would not allow future oil operational activities in the vicinity of Maguri-Motapung Beel and Dibru-Saikhowa National Park, the release stated. It also announced to hold a protest programme supporting various demands in front of Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner's office on July 28.
